Endless Blue Sky (2022 – present)

Endless Blue Sky (Bezgalīgās, zilās debesis) is a participatory art project by Latvian artist Laura Feldberga, created as an emotional response to the outbreak of war in Ukraine in spring 2022. The project invites people to collectively weave blue camouflage nets — blue as the color of the sky — as a symbolic gesture of hope, peace, and unity.

Since 2022, Endless Blue Sky has traveled through different locations, exhibitions, and events in Latvia and abroad, including performances and workshops in Riga, Japan, and other countries. The growing nets serve as poetic and tangible symbols of shared experience, resilience, and the human desire for peaceful skies above.

The project’s central idea is simple yet profound: each participant takes a strip of blue fabric from a box near the installation and ties it into the net. Every knot becomes a mark of individual presence, collective solidarity, and the hope for a better future. Over time, these knots form a vast, hand-woven blue surface — an ever-expanding fragment of the sky shaped by many hands.

Endless Blue Sky is not a military object, but a poetic, participatory work of art that transforms the act of weaving into a meditative ritual. It brings people together across different backgrounds, encourages conversation, and creates a shared space for reflection on peace, community, and belonging.
